Late winter,
1968: Milan, Ohio, the historic birthplace of Thomas Edison, awakens to
the news of a grisly multiple murder. Three members of the McCoy family
are dead, and only the young 17-year old son survived the brutal attack.
Public outcry prompts a lengthy investigation, but all inquiries lead
to dead ends. Over time, the horrible crime is relegated to the cold case
files, unsolved.
Labor Day weekend, thirty years later: Ellen Richardson returns to Milan
for her 30-year class reunion. While looking through some old papers in
the local library, she runs across an article that brings the whole story
flooding back. Her curiosity piqued, she hunts for more information. Questioning
local authorities only leads to frustration. They refuse to answer Ellen's
questions, and vehemently discourage her from pursuing the matter further.
Undeterred, and stubbornly ignoring pressure from the police department,
she continues the investigation on her own.
When old classmates begin to die, she discovers that her dogged persistence
has placed her in the killer's sights. It soon becomes a race against
time: she will either solve the crime, or become the killer's next victim.
Note: Home to Ohio is based, in part, on a true story.
