Katherine E. Standell

Katherine E. Standell is from a traditional military family. The family military history goes back four generations, and members of her immediate family are in both the Army and the Air Force. Her father, a Korean War veteran, is the recipient of several prestigious awards. These include the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star (with two oak leaf clusters) and the Legion of Merit, which is the highest possible peac- time award for services above and beyond the call of duty. It is second only to the Medal of Honor.

A graduate of Pembroke State University, Ms. Standell has an undergraduate degree in Education, and a Master's in Administration. For some reason, she felt compelled to join the military when she finished school, and enjoyed the challenges the service offered. Katherine served in the military for nearly ten years before injuries suffered in the line of duty forced her to retire. She was a Military Police officer, and her areas of expertise included counter-terrorism and personal security.

Katherine hopes to have the opportunity to complete more stories in The Hawk and Falcon Series, and is planning two additional books with new characters.

Desert Hawk
Alone in the Saudi desert, Captain Dylan Hunt fought a nightmare. After the destruction of her training unit, she is given up for dead. But this soldier isn't dead. Like the phoenix, she rises from the ashes. Now, she has dedicated her life to the death of her enemies.

For years, stories have spread... strange tales of a mysterious spirit that haunts the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Soldiers and civilians alike speak in hushed tones of the vengeful spirit that protects a barren place in the hot sands.

Lura Grant, whose days of freedom from her wealthy Virginia family are nearly over, has finally been given her dream assignment: solve the mystery of the Desert Hawk.

Return of the Warrior
Dylan Hawk has returned home, her body battered and her soul bruised. She is a national hero and admired by many, but not loved by all. In the eyes of the public she is a strong warrior, a woman of iron, but there behind closed doors there is a break in the armor.

Lura Grant followed her soldier into combat, and now she has come to stand beside her for all the world to see. Her family has other ideas -- and so does Dylan. Besides that, there is another threat stalking the lovers.

Have the two women survived the deadly conflicts of the desert only to be crushed by unseen forces?

The Celtic Knot
The exciting third book in The Hawk and Falcon Series.

When Lura inherits an estate in Scotland all is not as it appears. It seems that Dylan is not the only one with ghosts. What really happened all those years ago? Whatever became of the woman who lived in the old manor? Why is everyone afraid of the old place? Travel with Dylan and Lura to Scotland to find the answers to these questions, and more.
